Thick-Stem Aster
Erect stems in clusters, sticky glands on top section. Basal and lower stem leaves green through flowering, 2–9 in. long, entire, egg-shaped, with short petioles; upper stem leaves smaller, lance-shaped, sessile to clasping. Flower clusters atop stems. Flower cup glandular, green, bract tips tinted purple, 10–20 ray flowers lavender to purple surrounding yellow to purplish disk. Grows in dry meadows at high elevations.
