Slender, erect, branched stem. Leaves opposite, pinnately divided into 3–5 leaflets on short stalks. Flower heads at stem top, without noticeable petals, to 1 in. across in seed; 10–16 densely hairy phyllaries to 2 in. long surround the shorter yellow or olive-brown disk. Grows in moist places.
