Upright stem, usually branched, with soft hairs. Flat leaves, sometimes clustered, usually opposite, narrowly oval to spoon-shaped. Flowers consist of 4 sepals with pointed tips and 4 rounded, pink or white petals. Grows in dry open areas, often after fire, drying vernal pools, at low to mid elevations.
