Mendocino Gentian

Rosette with spreading stems turned upward. Basal leaves 1–3 in., spoon-shaped, with rounded tips. Stem leaves in pairs with base wrapped around stem; lower leaves crowded and wider than long; upper leaves less crowded. Flowers funnel-shaped, usually single at stem top. Flower 1 1/2 in. long, white throat spotted green, green outside, lobes blue. Sinus appendages divide only into 1–3 short thread-like parts. Grows with Darlingtonia californica in serpentine fens. Rare in Oregon, California. The name G. bisetaea has been wrongly applied in southern Oregon.
