Nodding Microseris

Erect short-lived perennial, milky sap. Stems branched and leafy on lower parts. Leaves usually linear, pinnately divided into narrow segments, or entire. Flower head cup is mealy, covered with hair that is usually black. Flower opens only in mornings; flat head of 13–50 yellow, extended, ray-like disk flowers. Young buds nod, becoming erect before opening. Grows throughout our region in moist forests, meadows, sagebrush, at mid to high elevations.
