Globe Penstemon

Rosettes of bright green leaves with erect flower stems. Basal and stem leaves oval, with pointed tip; smaller leaves clasp stem. Flowers to 3/4 in. long, bright blue to purple-blue, in small clusters or more often in 1 large globe at stem top. Inside flower tube the floor has white-haired beard, staminode hairy. Grows in moist or vernal-wet sites at high elevations to timberline.
