Ascending to erect. Leaves mostly basal, blue-green, shiny, divided palmately to 3 rounded segments, divided again and toothed. Flowers cream to yellow, sometimes tinted scarlet; 5 spurs shorter than petals, turning inward with a hook on the end. Grows in moist soils in meadows, mixed woods, at high elevations.
