Flower stems erect, 2 ft. or more, without leaves. Roots fleshy rhizomes crawling among and over rocks. Leaves emerging after flowering, 1–2 ft. across, with petioles attached in middle like umbrellas, round deep lobes, irregular teeth. Flowers many in rounded cluster, petals deep to light pink. Grows on rocky islands, edges of mountain streams, at mid to high elevations.
