Dichelostemma capitatum ssp. capitatum
Erect straight stem, dense head of blue flowers. Stem and leaves about the same length. Leaves 2 or 3, grass-like. Stem topped with tight head of bell-shaped flowers held by 2–4 papery white to dark purple bracts. Flowers have 6 stamens, 3 longer and 3 shorter, covered by 3 deeply notched projections, white, sometimes pink at base, angled toward center. Grows often in large numbers in grasslands, deserts, dry woods, below 7000 ft.
