Tall Mountain Shooting Star

Erect stem, leaves to 20 in. Plant hairless or stem covered with gland-tipped hairs. Leaves oval to lance-shaped, with shallow rounded teeth or entire. Stem topped with 3 to many flowers. Flower with all parts in 4 or 5, lavender to magenta, occasionally white petals, lower part cream or yellow, red band at base. Grows in very wet places that are usually drier in summer, boggy areas and shorelines, from coastal to high elevations.
