Mountain Gooseberry

Low, spreading, branched shrub. Stems and branches coated with gland-tipped hairs and spines. Leaves to 1 in. across, deeply 5-lobed, lobes toothed, hairy, glandular. Cluster of 4–7 small flowers. Flower in whitish green to pinkish cup of reflexed sepals, petals red, pink, or purplish, stamens about equal in length to petals. Berries orange-red, covered with gland-tipped bristles. Grows in many habitats at high elevations.
