Upright. Stems long, with fine hairs and glands. Leaves large, divided into 3 sections, each shallowly divided, sharply pointed, maple-like. Flower stems 2–3 ft., topped with long thin flower head of white to pale pink flowers. Flowers with small sepals that quickly fall; numerous long white stamens form a conspicuous, long, bottlebrush-looking flower head. Grows in moist shady woods at lower elevations. Elata means "tall."
