Slender, erect. Leaves in basal rosette, egg-shaped, widest at top, covered with tiny, soft to rough, white hairs. Leaves vary from entire to toothed or lobed; some leaves occur above basal rosette. Inflorescence is a large calyx of 2 rows of bracts, with 5 to many yellow rays. Flowers open early morning, close in afternoon, often turning pink as they dry. Grows in many habitats at low and mid elevations.
