Stems erect. Basal leaf rosette. Leaves prostrate, spoon-shaped, on 1/2 in. tapered petioles, with white hairs underneath, green and sparsely hairy above; interspersed with stolons to 8 in. long, with similar but stemless leaves. Inflorescence is a cluster of 5–12 flower heads on hairy stalks. Flowers held in cup of sharply pointed bracts with cobweb-like hairs at base, upper cup light brown to white. Grows in open forests at 4000–7000 ft.
