Stems erect, slender, with dense stiff hairs, widely branched near top. Basal leaves pinnately lobed, with even, small teeth and rough hairs, green but not shiny; stem leaves similar but smaller, sessile. Flowers clustered in stem tops, with 4 yellow petals to 1/2 in. long. Seedpods on erect stalks, pods 1/3–1/2 in. long, pressed close to stem. Abundant in fields, disturbed places, at low and mid elevations.
