Stems upright, usually unbranched except in inflorescence. Leaves opposite, blades lance-shaped to triangular, scalloped to toothed, heart-shaped base with 1/4–1 in. petioles. Flower heads at stem tips in small clusters, erect to nodding, no ray flowers. Disk flowers whitish. Widespread among rocks, canyons, on cliffs, at low to mid-elevations.
