Pink Star Tulip
Stem upright, less than 4 in. tall. Leaf on stem, persisting through flowering. Single stem holds a single or few upward-facing flowers. Bowl-shaped flowers lavender, pink, or white, inside without band or with a darker purple band; hairless except for a few yellow hairs inside near base of petal. Grows in moist to wet meadows, edges of bogs, fens, at low elevations. The similar lavender-flowered Shasta star tulip, C. nudus, found in same habitats, is taller, 5–10 in., and grows at high elevations.
