Upright, short, green or yellowish plant, glistens but is not sticky, with hairy glands and few long hairs. Leaves lance-shaped to oval, 1/2–2 in. long, with 2 or sometimes more rounded shallow lobes. Flowers densely arranged along upper stem, just above bracts, which are similar to the leaves. Outer part of both bract and flower bright red or yellow. Rare. Found on rocky serpentine in Siskiyou Mountains.
