Castilleja glandulifera
Cluster from woody base, upper plant covered with sticky glands. Stems erect, lower section hairy. Leaves 1/2–2 in. long, lance-shaped, whole or divided with 2 lobes. Flower bracts and calyces are lobed, yellow or soft red. Flower to 1 in. long, with narrow yellow or purplish edges, lower lip dark green. Grows in sandy granite soils at 6500–10,000 ft. Similar C. viscidula is smaller; bracts and calyces usually yellowish green, can be pink, orange, or reddish; flower lower lip reduced to small pouch, with 3 teeth turned inward.
