Prostrate Ceanothus
Prostrate plant less than 8 ft. wide. Stems round, red-brown, may root when touching ground. Leaves opposite, evergreen, oblong to widely oval, usually about 1 in. long, leathery, with 3–9 teeth; upper surface smooth, green, hairless; lower surface lighter-colored, with hairs on veins. Flowers in small clusters, shades of blue, lavender, white. Seedpods often bright red, round, with 3 sections, wrinkled on top. Grows in open areas of conifer forests at mid to high elevations. Plants with larger or smaller leaves are often found.
