Stem decumbent to erect, with bent tip. Leaf lance- to egg-shaped, 1/2–1 1/2 in. long. Flower buds hang down. Flowers lavender-pink with darker marks or stains; petals diamond-shaped, with 2 rounded protrusions near base; pollen blue-gray. Grows in pine forests, dry woodlands, open areas, at low to high elevations.
