Stems decumbent to erect, sometimes branched. Leaves few, pinnately divided into 3–5 linear leaflets. Flowers solitary, tiny, with 3 oval white or purplish petals much shorter than the 3 lance-shaped sepals, 3–6 stamens. Grows in wet, rocky or mossy, partially shaded places in conifer forests or sagebrush at mid-elevations. Can form large patches in small streams, ditches.
