Tuft with ascending stems. Basal leaves with long hairless petioles, widely heart-shaped, with 5 sharp-toothed lobes, hairless; stem leaves 1–2, much smaller. Flowers in sprays topping wiry stems, numerous, small, white. Grows on moist rocky cliffs, in meadows with mosses, in streambanks and splash zones of streams and rivers, from sea level to mid-elevations.
