Slender. Stems unbranched, hairless. Leaves oblong, 1–3 in. long, entire or small-toothed, no or few hairs on surface. Basal leaves in rosettes; stem leaves sparse or none. Flower heads few, loosely clustered at top. Disk flowers 20–35, yellow, ray-like, held in a cup covered with black glandular hairs. Common in subalpine and alpine, on moist rocky soils at high elevations.
