Rosette grayish, not strong-smelling. Stems ascending, reddish. Leaves 2–6 in. long, pinnately divided into 10–20 crowded leaflets, each divided 3/4 to base into many linear silky-haired narrow lobes. Inflorescence clustered at stem top, consisting of 5–25 creamy to white flowers drying to yellowish brown, with 5 oval petals narrowing to slender stalk at base; 5 green pointed sepals are slightly shorter; 10 stamens become wider at base. Grows on serpentine, clay, other soils in dry open places, at low to mid-elevations.
