Single erect stem, glandular, sometimes spicy-smelling. Leaves linear to oval. Basal leaves lobed; upper leaves entire. Flower heads on stalks to 3 in. long. Ray flowers 3–14, white, 3-lobed on tips. Few to many yellow disk flowers. Grows in open and sandy soils below 4500 ft. Similar Blepharipappus scaber has white disk flowers with purple anthers.
