Spreading branches, several flowering stems. Plants slender, without hairs. Leaves egg-shaped. Basal leaves with short petioles; stem leaves smaller, sessile. Flowers with very thin stalks, 4–6 petals, white, 4–6 stamens. Seedpod 1/2–3/4 in., linear, often twisted. Grows in open vernal-moist areas with sandy or gravelly soils, often hidden among grasses, at low elevations. Plants complete growth cycle as the vernal seepages dry.
