Sprawling to erect. Stems delicate, succulent, with fine hairs. Leaves opposite, pinnately divided into odd number of lobes, fine hairs. Flowers on long stalks beyond leaves, wide open large bowls of 5 petals, sky blue with white center or with darker blue veins or black-spotted center. Grows in spring-moist flats, or slopes, at low elevations in southern Oregon and California. Nemophila menziesii var. atomaria (pictured, inset), with white flowers and black dots almost to edges of petal, is the form in the north.
