Ascending stems often in large clumps, hairless. Leaves wide, to 3 in. long, tapering to pointed tip, succulent-like, coated with blue waxy powder. Inflorescence is 2–6 in. long, atop stem. Showy flowers rosy to lilac, 1–1 1/2 in. long. Grows in shady dry places, hanging in cliffs or on talus slopes, only in Columbia River Gorge in transition zone between Columbia Basin, eastern Cascades, and western Cascades.
