Sticky-Stem Penstemon
Upright leafy stems from basal clump of leaves, woody at base, sticky throughout, including flowers. Leaves egg-shaped, with sharply pointed tip, toothed. Basal leaves with long petioles; stem leaves clasping. Flowers 1–1 1/2 in. long in various shades of purple with beeline markings inside. Staminode not hairy. Grows in light woods or open areas at mid elevations, sometimes in rocky soils.
