Stems erect, stout. Leaves hairless, 4–10 in. long with wide bases or heart-shaped tapering to a sharp tip. Flowers in loose, nearly leafless, branched inflorescence, white to greenish white. Grows in seasonally moist meadows, near subalpine or alpine springs, rocky places, at high elevations.
