Poet's Shooting Star
Erect stem and leaves. Plant covered with rough, gland-tipped hairs. Leaves 2–5 in. long, narrow to widely oval, with fine teeth; petioles about same length or shorter. Flowers 1–10 atop stalks. Flowers in parts of 5, petals rose-pink, yellow, black at base, tube black-purple sometimes tinged with yellow. Grows in vernal-wet open places or in light woodlands, streambanks.
