Creeping Sibbaldia
Creeping mat. Stems woody. Leaves with long petioles, compound with 3 leaflets. Leaflets wedge-shaped, with 3–5 teeth at wide tip end. Flowers on 2–6 in. stems in hairy clusters, 1/4 in. across, yellow with 4–10 stamens. Seeds small, smooth, brown, in dried flower. Grows in moist rocky areas at mid to high elevations. Formerly classified in genus Potentilla. Members of Sibbaldia have 10 or fewer stamens; cinquefoils (Potentilla) have more than 10 stamens.
