Tansy-Leaved Evening Primrose
Rosette or mat, densely covered with spreading to flattened hairs. Leaves 2–12 in. long, pinnately, irregularly, and deeply lobed. Flowers erect, stemless; sepals reflexed back; petals to 1/4 in. long, deep yellow, turning red when withered. Seedpods form underground. Grows in clay soils in open moist places.
