Stems upright to lax. Leaves with petioles longer than the 3 egg-shaped leaflets, finely toothed. Flowers bright yellow, 15–25 in a nearly round cluster, reflexing downward soon after opening and becoming brown with age. Grows in disturbed soils, along roads, in lawns, at low elevations. European native common in most of United States but rare in Rocky Mountains. Very similar T. dubium is smaller.
