Dwarf Hesperochiron
Basal leaf rosette with erect to spreading flower stems. Leaves 2–10, from root, short petioles with leaf blades less than 1 in. wide, linear, oblong to egg-shaped, usually without hairs. Flowers 2–8, on separate stalks, flat, saucer-shaped, wider than high, with egg-shaped petals, opening wide, white or possibly tinted purple, center bright yellow, hairy, with noticeable dark beelines. Stamens 5, with black to purple pollen. Grows in vernal-wet meadows, rocky openings, at low to subalpine elevations.
